Acupuncture
Acupuncture has been used for thousands of years to successfully treat many common conditions. It involves the insertion of very fine needles into the skin at specific points to increase the flow of ‘Qi’ (vital energy), blood and fluids, and to improve the immune system. Modern scientific methods have shown that the needles stimulate the release of chemicals and hormones and have a direct effect on the limbic system, as well as stimulating the body’s natural defences and boosting the immune system.

Cupping
Cupping is a method of treatment in Chinese Medicine which involves the use of special glass cups. By creating a vacuum inside the cups and placing the cups onto the body of the patient, a therapeutic effect is achieved by creating a suction effect on the skin, which is said to improve the blood circulation and remove toxins.
Moxibustion
Moxibustion is the focused application of warmth on the body gained burning moxa (mugwort) near to the skin. Moxibustion is used in two ways, by burning moxa rolls, that are lit and suspended above the skin, or moxa cones that are placed over the skin before being lit. Moxibustion works by improving the circulation of Qi and Blood, warming the channels, relieving pain and boosting the immune system.
Moxibustion can be used to try and gently turn a breech baby through heating the little toe, this signals the placenta to release hormones that cause the baby to turn.
